Hope for Tomorrow
The charity Hope for Tomorrow has been providing NHS trusts with mobile cancer care units since 2007. The mission is simple: to improve the lives of patients with cancer by allowing them to receive treatments outside of the hospital setting and closer to their homes and work and life commitments.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust have been using a mobile cancer care unit since 2014. Moving cancer care closer to patients has proven health and wellbeing benefits. In some cases, once initial consultations and first treatments have taken place, mobile cancer care units allow for the removal of hospital visits for the majority of a patient’s treatments. The associated reduction in travel and waiting times delivers a vastly improved patient experience, reducing stress and anxiety levels and allowing patients to spend more time focussing on a life outside of cancer.
In addition to the unit, Hope for Tomorrow provide the Trust with a Nurses Support Vehicle to allow the nurses to travel to and from the daily treatment locations along with any additional supplies or equipment that are required.
The Trust’s mobile units visit the East Coast.
