A children’s ward at Pilgrim hospital, Boston has received a donation of over £1,200 to help enhance the experience of children and young people.
Emily and Paul Wand from Donington, Spalding, decided to fundraise for the ward after their daughters both received care from the children’s ward, with one of them undergoing regular treatment.
The most recent fundraising involved a five kilometre inflatable obstacle challenge, an 18 hole golf day and raffle which saw generous donations from a range of local businesses.
The donation of £1274 will be used to increase what’s on offer in the playroom on the ward with new toys and equipment as well as provide new facilities for the parents’ suite such as a new kettle.
Emily said, “Everyone on the ward is exceptional; the nurses always take time to talk to you and the housekeepers singing make a sometimes difficult experience easier to bear. We hope this money will go some way to show our appreciation to the team.”
Emma Boole, ward sister said, “This is a lovely donation and it is wonderful for the children who attend the ward It is really great to hear about the difference we make to families and we know this will go a long way to really enhancing the experience of both children and their parents.”
